Bahrain BTEA

BTEA E-Invoicing Compliance Phases

The Bahrain Tax and Economic Authority (BTEA) in Bahrain is preparing to roll out e-invoicing in phases, targeting taxpayers based on their annual VAT taxable revenue. Each phase will specify a compliance deadline and apply to businesses exceeding certain revenue thresholds in specific years (likely 2024 or 2025). No phases are officially documented yet, with details pending BTEA confirmation as of March 2025. Here’s the projected list:

Phase 1: July 1, 2026

Taxpayers with annual turnover exceeding BHD 1 million in 2024 must integrate their e-invoicing systems with BTEA’s platform.

Phase 2: January 1, 2027

Taxpayers with annual turnover exceeding BHD 500,000 in 2025 must integrate their e-invoicing systems with BTEA’s platform.

Release Dates

Recent updates (e.g., VATcalc, February 2025) confirm Bahrain’s National Bureau for Revenue (NBR) is designing a B2B e-invoicing system for a potential 2026 launch, not 2025.
